So I have this friend who's doing something so totally self-destructive that it's almost painful to watch. I've been helping this friend with said problem (well, more listening then offering a tidbit of advice) for a while now, and I saw it in full blown action firsthand recently. What do you do when you're watching someone basically suck the lifeblood out of your friend - and neither the sucker nor the suckee (whom I guess is the real sucker in the situation) are willing to do anything to remedy it.

I know this is all a bit convoluted. But it's about all I can say without getting in trouble. I would really like to confront both parties and force a resolution - just so this doesn't have to go on any longer - but that's just my training in mediation talking, and it's not really my place. I do know, however, that if I see this nonsense continuing for a long period of time, I may have to jump in with an intervention.

I don't know why everyone I seem to know is with the worst possible person for them. You would think at least one couple could get it right. Oh well.

My arm hurts. I got my flu shot today. I'm hoping that it will stave off any grave illnesses that happen to come over the winter season (I usually end up with at least one). Not a lot of interesting things have been happening lately, but I figure I have enough small tidbits to share that might make this an almost palatable post. Also, I'm hoping it's just in time to keep me on arwen's "frequently updated" list.

1. My boy is out of town (boo) but I have his car while he's gone (yay)
2. I bought candles at Ikea yesterday (sorry Donna) and they're nice
3. I managed to find a plethora of untapped books for my papers, due to some sneaky practices on the library search function ("you underestimate the power of my sneakiness...")
4. I visited with mom and dad on Tuesday evening, it was really nice seeing them again - and they may even buy me a desk! (currently my computer is sitting on a rigged up ivar unit from Ikea - not ideal, but it gets the job done).
5. My roommate is bringing our Christmas tree over on Saturday - holiday festiveness, here we come!

Now, however, it is time to go read, etc. before the weekend hits and I become totally useless in the homework department.

I am feeling much less violent towards my neighbours today - I think that's a good sign.

My only other problem now is that I seriously need to get my ass in gear on some schoolwork. Three 12-15 page papers due in the next 3 weeks - and I haven't even started my research yet! I think I would have better luck trying for nanowrimo. At least the boy leaves on Tuesday for a week, (of course I'll miss him dearly, but) it should give me a bit of extra time to get things done. I'll also have his car while he's gone, so I'll be able to get where I need to go a little faster, and waste less time on publicly transporting myself here and there.

Speaking of not having enough hours in the day, I should seriously consider getting off the computer and getting on with some homework before work. Time management is such a bitch sometimes.
