Just thought I'd post a quick update about work and my crazy boss. I've been lamenting lately about my lack of work, and how he calls at the next-to-last minute to cancel shifts on me. I thought he hated me and I was getting fired. Turns out he's kinda nice - he made me food yesterday (some amazingly delicious Italian sausage sauteed with tasty bits of tomato and garlic) and was positively personable. He even managed to get through the night without spewing some conspiracy theory about how he hates the government and how Gordon Campbell is going to burn in hell. And he upped my shifts by one day a week - a very good thing considering the holidays are coming up and I could use the extra cash. Well, as crazy as things may be, at least it's a job, and it keeps things interesting.

This is where to go to see scavenger hunt results and pictures, etc.

And now, without further adieu - Friday Five!

1. Were you raised in a particular religious faith?
Roman Catholic
2. Do you still practice that faith? Why or why not?
Yes and no. I still consider myself Catholic, but I'm of the variety that only manages to get to church for Christmas and Easter. My mom and grandmother frown upon me.
3. What do you think happens after death?
I'm not sure - nothing too terrible I hope.
4. What is your favorite religious ritual (participating in or just observing)?
It would definitely be Christmas Eve mass - but only under certain conditions. There was a priest when I lived in Hope who didn't exactly agree with the full doctrine of the Catholic Church, so he did things a little differently. Every Christmas Eve he would read the story of Barrington Bunny (which managed to make grown men cry) to illustrate the compassion that we should all have for one another. Also, something about being in a small wooden church in a small town where there was *always* snow on the ground for Christmas.... *sigh*
5. Do you believe people are basically good?
I most certainly do. Things happen over time that cause them to choose that being bad is better. Sometimes they go so far that it's impossible to turn back - but I believe they were born good. Also, just because people do things we don't believe or agree with, doesn't make them bad.

Oh, and yes, my team won the grand hunt!
Yah so I went on this scavenger hunt last night and man oh man - too much to even start describing! There was much fun and much nakedness and much borderline illegal activity had by all (but mostly by donna). Because she's so much better than I am with all of this, and because I'm just too darned lazy, I will link to her recap and photographs of the night's events once she has it up.

Happy Halloween :)

I woke up with a headache today - I hate it when that happens. On top of that, there is a gross amount of drilling, hammering, slicing, and otherwise disruptive construction noises happening directly outside my apartment (actually in my walls going to the hallway). I think the headache is from the drywall/plaster fumes from the repair work inside the suite - that shit is just stinky. And now I'm cranky. grr....

Something interesting from yesterday though - girls, help me out with this...

I was sitting in my useless tutorial group, and there's an exchange student from Mexico in there (I've had classes with him before, he's a cool guy - but still wears a toque every single day, because it's too freakin cold here for him). Mr. Mexico was giving an oral presentation yesterday, and as he got into his presentation, I almost began to swoon! He's got a fairly deep voice, and his English is really good, so the pace of the speech just sortof flowed nicely. Normally foreign accents don't do it for me - but perhaps it was the whole latino/toque/enrique kinda thing, or perhaps it was just one of those days but man oh man....

So... am I crazy?

Just a question - but when did all product manuals change from starting off with the line "Thank you for purchasing...."? Now they all say "Congratulations on your purchase of a...." Like, they assume that you'll buy their product and there's no need to thank you for your patronage. Instead they say "Congratulations! You are the 23509845th sucker to buy this thing, which we're sure will cause you all sorts of trouble down the road."

but like I said, just a question...
I have managed to procure myself a new cell phone, and despite my earlier frustrations, I'm pretty pleased with the whole situation. I signed the 3 year contract for my fantabulous plan, and got a $100 bill credit that I didn't previously know about. And I got the aforementioned phone for a measly $25. Happy Day!

So did we all enjoy the time change? I must say that I feel twice as tired now, but perhaps that's because I used up my 'lost hour' and then some. Oh well.
